Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features the Roman numeral 'XX' surmounted by a crown, denoting the denomination of 20 Réis. The crowned value mark is struck in relief on a flat field typical of hammered coinage, with an inner beaded circle surrounding the central device. The circumferential Latin legend reads '+PETRVS D G P PORTV X.X', identifying Pedro as Prince Regent of Portugal by the Grace of God, interrupted at various points depending on die variety. An outer beaded border encircles the entire design, consistent with Portuguese hammered silver coinage of the period.

Beschrijving keerzijde Central device consists of a plain Latin cross with a small globus or orb at the base, enclosed within an inner beaded circle. The cross divides the inner field into four quadrants, rendered in the simple, bold style characteristic of Portuguese hammered silver of the late seventeenth century. The circumferential Latin legend '+IN HOC SIGNO VINCES' ('In this sign thou shalt conquer') runs between the inner and outer beaded borders, referencing the Constantinian motto traditionally associated with Portuguese royal coinage. The outer border is composed of a continuous row of raised beads following the irregular flan edge.
