| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the arms of Solothurn — a crowned shield bearing the characteristic black-and-white divided escutcheon of the canton — surmounted by a small displayed eagle at the top. The shield is rendered in a robust, somewhat naive hammered style typical of early 17th-century Swiss cantonal coinage. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the legend distributed around the periphery in Latin capital letters. The overall composition is compact, filling the flan efficiently given the small module of the denomination. |
