The crowned Ls stand upright, their fleurs-de-lis finials visible within their respective quarters. A beaded inner circle frames the quartered design. The surrounding legend reads LVDOVI. 13. D. G. FRAN. E. NA., identifying Louis XIII as King of France and Navarre. |

The arms of the cross are ornamented with foliate flourishes typical of this hammered issue. The surrounding legend, separated by pellets, reads .GRATIA. DEI. SVM. ID. Q. S., a devotional motto affirming divine grace. |
