| 背面描述 | Large Roman numeral V occupies the centre of the field, representing the denomination of five réis. The numeral is flanked on all four sides by the mint mark letter P, forming a cruciform arrangement of four Ps (PPPP) around the central value numeral, with decorative foliate or scroll ornaments filling the interstices. The date and legend are disposed in a circular band around the periphery, with the inscription reading in two arcs separated by the mint letters. |

Portugal's northern mint at Porto operated only briefly in the 1690s, opened specifically to supplement Lisbon's output during a period when copper coinage was in chronic short supply across the kingdom. The Porto establishment was shut down again within years, making its issues distinctly short-run. Gomes catalogues this type under a single variety grouping, but Bentes separates the 1695 and 1696 strikes — differences subtle enough that many examples circulate through collections misattributed to Lisbon entirely.
