Unknown Æ Chach, Uncertain Principality III, type 1, walking left

Chach — the region centered on ancient Tashkent — sat at a junction of Silk Road routes where political authority fragmented into a patchwork of small principalities during the seventh and eighth centuries. The Arab conquest of Transoxiana, largely complete by the 720s under Qutayba ibn Muslim, disrupted but did not immediately replace the local coinage traditions of these minor rulers, whose bronze issues continued circulating well into the Abbasid period. The "Uncertain Principality" designation in Sh&K reflects genuine scholarly impasse — the issuing authority has not been linked to any named dynasty or ruler from the documentary record.
