Aanvullende informatie

Petelia was a Bruttian town of Oscan origin that famously held out against Hannibal longer than virtually any other Italian community during his invasion — reportedly resisting for months before finally surrendering, stripped of its walls and reduced in status. Rome later honored Petelia's loyalty, and the town's bronze coinage, including this uncia, belongs to the period bracketing that siege and its aftermath. Issues attributed to Petelia are rare across all denominations, and the uncia is among the scarcest of the series.
