Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in archaic Italic style with thick wavy beard and finely engraved curling locks; the laurel wreath is boldly struck with individual leaves clearly articulated. A single star, serving as the mark of value for the uncia denomination, appears to the left in the field. The portrait displays the robust, somewhat provincial craftsmanship characteristic of Campanian bronze coinage produced under Oscan influence during the Second Punic War period.
