Segesta's monetary history is inseparable from its long conflict with Selinus, the neighboring Greek colony whose territorial disputes eventually drew Carthage into Sicily in 409 BC — the very year this series closes. The Segestans were Elymian, not Greek, and their adoption of coinage reflects calculated engagement with Greek commercial norms rather than cultural assimilation.
