Segesta's monetary history is inseparable from its long conflict with Selinus, the neighboring Greek colony whose territorial disputes eventually drew Carthage into Sicily in 409 BC — the very year this series closes. The Segestans were Elymian, not Greek, and their adoption of coinage reflects calculated engagement with Greek commercial norms rather than cultural assimilation. That the reference fields are blank here is itself informative: Segestian bronze of this period remains poorly catalogued, with known specimens scattered across a handful of European collections and no consensus die study completed.
