The obverse field displays a Kannada inscription reading 'Sri Varasa' rendered in archaic Kannada script, distributed along the body of the coin. Stylised pellets and abstract symbols are visible in the field, characteristic of the hammered fanam tradition of the Deccan feudatory states.
