Trojak / 3 Grosze - Jan II Kazimierz Waza Wilno mint

Jan II Kazimierz inherited a Commonwealth already buckling under Cossack revolt — the Khmelnytsky Uprising had been grinding since 1648 — and the Wilno mint was operating under increasingly strained fiscal conditions when this trojak was struck. Just three years later, the Swedish Deluge and a simultaneous Muscovite invasion would effectively shut down normal minting operations across the Commonwealth for years.

The Igielski reference V.652 distinguishes Wilno-struck trojaki of this year from the Bydgoszcz and Kraków issues, which share the date but differ in die details and mintmaster marks.
