| Reverse description | The rampant Knight of Lithuania (Pahonia) on horseback, brandishing a sword overhead, occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle. The date 1652 appears above the equestrian figure, and the denomination mark 30 is displayed in the lower field. The surrounding Latin legend, partially abbreviated, identifies this as a silver grosch of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania struck at the Wilno (Vilnius) mint, with the mintmaster's initials incorporated into the legend. |

Jan II Kazimierz inherited a Commonwealth already buckling under Cossack revolt — the Khmelnytsky Uprising had been grinding since 1648 — and the Wilno mint was operating under increasingly strained fiscal conditions when this trojak was struck. Just three years later, the Swedish Deluge and a simultaneous Muscovite invasion would effectively shut down normal minting operations across the Commonwealth for years.
The Igielski reference V.652 distinguishes Wilno-struck trojaki of this year from the Bydgoszcz and Kraków issues, which share the date but differ in die details and mintmaster marks.
