Nectanebo II, last native pharaoh of Egypt, issued this fractional silver during a reign defined by repeated Persian attempts to reconquer the Nile Delta. The denomination — a three-quarter obol in Greek reckoning — reflects the heavy influence of Greek mercenary troops in his army, who demanded payment in familiar denominations. He lost Egypt to Artaxerxes III in 343 BC and fled to Nubia, ending three thousand years of native pharaonic rule.
