Immediately below the crab, a crayfish (astacus) is depicted in left profile, serving as a secondary emblem in the lower field. Three pellets, denoting the coin's denomination of three unciae, are arranged in a horizontal row between the crab and the crayfish. The overall composition is bold and naturalistic, consistent with the accomplished die-cutting tradition of Sicilian Greek bronze coinage. |
