| 背面描述 | Head of Kallisto facing right, depicted as a youthful female with loosely flowing hair rendered in wavy locks cascading around the neck. The effigy is executed in a graceful late Classical style, with delicate facial features including a straight nose and slightly parted lips. The broad, plain field bears no legend, consistent with the civic coinage of Mantinea in the late fourth century BC. |

Mantinea had been razed by Sparta in 385 BC — its population forcibly dispersed into four separate villages — and only refounded as a unified polis in 370 BC following the Spartan defeat at Leuctra. This coin belongs to the first sustained civic coinage the city was able to produce after that refoundation, making it a direct product of Theban hegemony reshaping the Peloponnesian political order.
The BCD Peloponnesos reference places this specimen within one of the most rigorously catalogued regional collections ever assembled, the Lanz auction of 2006 remaining the standard for Arkadian coinage attribution.
