Obverse description Head of Atalante facing right, wearing a petasos pushed back on the head, rendered in a compact and vigorous style characteristic of Aetolian federal coinage. The portrait is positioned to the left of center on the flan, with the facial features and the broad brim of the petasos clearly discernible despite the irregular planchet. The field is otherwise unadorned. The hammered flan exhibits the typical irregular outline of hand-struck Greek silver coinage of the Hellenistic period.
