Obverse description Facing female head rendered in archaic Greek style, set within a dotted border along the upper rim. The facial features are summarily but boldly executed, with large eyes and a broad nose characteristic of the early Emporitane coinage. The Greek letters E and M appear flanking the head in the field, serving as an abbreviated ethnic denoting the issuing city of Emporion. The flan is irregular and slightly worn, consistent with a hand-struck silver fractional of this period.
