Above the cross, a smaller pattée cross occupies the upper field, reinforcing the Christian devotional character of the type. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, beyond which the mint legend runs in debased Latin letters. The outermost border consists of the same serrated toothed ring as the obverse, providing visual continuity across both faces. The composition reflects the standardized reverse type of Egitania mint issues attributed to the brief reign of Suniefred. |

Suniefred's reign lasted mere months in 700–701, a failed usurpation against Wittiza that left almost no documentary trace and an extraordinarily thin coinage. Egitania — modern Idanha-a-Velha in Portugal — was one of the few mints to strike in his name, making any attribution to this king and this mint simultaneously a genuine rarity. Pliego 712 represents one of the scarcest intersections in the entire Visigothic series.
