Obverse description Facing bust of King Recaredo I in schematic Visigothic style, rendered with radiate or beaded crown and stylized drapery below. The effigy is depicted frontally in a highly abstracted manner characteristic of late Visigothic coinage, with linear facial features and a prominent torso. A cross or Chi-Rho device appears on the chest area of the bust. The surrounding field carries the retrograde or irregular Latin legend RECCΛREDVS REX distributed around the portrait. The flan is irregular and the overall style reflects the devolved Byzantine artistic tradition of Iberian Visigothic minting.

Reverse description Facing bust in the same schematic Visigothic style as the obverse, representing a stylized effigy with beaded or radiate crown and draped shoulders rendered in a flat, linear manner. The bust is centrally placed on the irregular flan, with the facial features depicted in a highly conventionalized fashion derived from debased Byzantine prototypes. The mint name RODΛS (Rosas, in modern Catalonia) and the epithet IVSTVS appear distributed around the bust as the reverse legend. The granulated or serrated border typical of Visigothic tremisses frames the design.
