Reverse description Facing stylized bust of similar schematic character to the obverse, rendered frontally within a beaded inner border, with simplified drapery at the base of the neck. A cross pattee appears above the bust in the upper field. The circular Latin legend runs around the periphery within a beaded outer border, reading +PIVS EMERITA VICTOR, identifying the mint city of Emerita (modern Mérida) and proclaiming the king as pious victor.
