| Beschrijving voorzijde | Stylized diademed bust in right profile, rendered in the debased late antique manner characteristic of early Merovingian gold coinage. The effigy is depicted within a beaded or cable border, with facial features and hair reduced to schematic, abstract strokes. The treatment of the bust reflects the progressive stylization of imperial Roman prototypes as transmitted through Frankish moneyer coinage of the first half of the seventh century.
