| Beschrijving voorzijde | Highly stylized and schematic royal bust facing right, rendered in the debased Visigothic manner with strongly abstracted facial features. The effigy is surrounded by a field densely populated with star-shaped pellet ornaments arranged around the central figure. A beaded inner border frames the composition, with a serrated outer border encircling the entire flan. The Latin legend LIVVICILDVS RE, a retrograde or corrupt rendering of the royal name Leovigildus Rex, appears distributed around the field amid the decorative star motifs. A central pierced hole is visible, characteristic of certain Visigothic tremisses. |
