| Reverse description | Central device depicting a chalice or kantharos with two loop-shaped handles, surmounted by a cross, the whole rendered in a bold, increasingly abstract style typical of Merovingian tremisses from the Banassac mint. The mint legend surrounds the central motif, disposed around the field within a toothed border. The lettering is in retrograde and partially barbarized Latin, reading PΛNNIΛCIACO FIIT, a corruption of the place-name Pannaciaco (Banassac) combined with the word FIIT (fecit or fit), indicating the place of manufacture. |
