Descrição do reverso Upright Herculean club at center, flanked by two six-pointed stars in the field, all enclosed within a circular ivy wreath with prominent leaves and berries. The civic legend ΤΙΜΗ ΔΙΟΝΥ is distributed around the lower field in two lines, referencing the city's eponymous deity Dionysos. The design is boldly rendered in high relief, typical of Thracian civic bronze coinage.

Informações adicionais

Dionysopolis, on the western Black Sea coast in what is now Bulgaria, was a Milesian foundation that spent much of the Hellenistic period navigating the pressure of Getae incursions from the interior. The city's bronze coinage from this stretch was purely local in function — facilitating small transactions within a regional economy oriented around grain export and the fishing trade of the Pontic littoral. The broad date range assigned to this type reflects genuine uncertainty rather than a long production run; these bronzes are too poorly documented in controlled excavation contexts to pin more tightly.
