| Reverse description | The reverse field bears a three-line Arabic religious inscription arranged in the typical Bukharan tilla format, separated into upper and lower registers by a horizontal raised bar dividing the field. The upper register contains the first part of the Shahada ('There is no god but God'), the middle portion carries the second part ('Muhammad is the Messenger of God'), and the lower register bears the mint name 'Bukhara' in bold nastaliq script. The hand-engraved legends fill the flan with vigorous, deeply struck strokes, characteristic of Central Asian hammered gold coinage. The irregular flan edges and slightly off-center strike are consistent with the hand-production techniques employed at the Bukhara mint throughout this period. |
