Superimposed on the bust is a small rectangular Arabic-script counterstamp reading عبد لطيف صانع الفضَّة بجيبوتي, identifying the Djibouti-based silversmith Abd al-Latif who authenticated and re-issued the coin for local trade in the Obock region during the period 1892–1914. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the restrike neoclassical style characteristic of all post-1780 Maria Theresa Thaler restrikes. |
