| Obverse description | Draped and armored bust of Duke Karl I (Charles I) of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel facing right, wearing elaborate plate armor with ornate decoration at the shoulder and a lace cravat visible at the neck. The effigy occupies the majority of the field, with a circular Latin legend surrounding it reading CAROLUS D·G·DUX·BR·ET·LUN·. The coin border is edged with fine milled graining. A mint mark initial appears at the bottom of the bust truncation. |
