Additional information

Kuprilli was among the earliest Lycian dynasts to strike coins, operating during a period when Lycia functioned as a tributary region under Achaemenid Persian administration while retaining substantial local autonomy. His issues are among the foundational pieces of Lycian numismatics, predating the more prolific dynastic series of the late fifth century. The Kandyba attribution ties this piece to a mint city in the Lycian interior, though the precise boundaries of individual dynastic control in this period remain a subject of scholarly dispute.
