The bunch is enclosed within a square border of pellets, a hallmark device of Maroneian coinage referencing the city's celebrated viticulture. The Greek magistrate's inscription ΕΠΙ ΑΡΙΣΤΟΛΕΩ, reading 'under Aristoleon,' is distributed around the exterior of the dotted square border in four groups of letters.
