Adramyttion, the coastal Mysian city refounded by the Athenians in the mid-fifth century BC, struck its own silver coinage during a period of contested regional authority — squeezed between Persian satrapial control and the ambitions of the Hecatomnid dynasty out of Caria. This tetrobol falls precisely within the window of the Social War (357–355 BC), during which Athens lost decisive control over its Aegean allies, reshaping which cities retained or asserted independent minting rights.
