Gergis was a small Troad settlement whose coinage remains poorly attributed in the literature — some scholars have assigned these pieces to Gergis near the Hellespont, others to a similarly named site, and the debate is not fully resolved. What is consistent is the narrow weight standard, which aligns with the reduced Attic or local Troad fractional series circulating among minor poleis during this century. Tiny regional fractions like this typically served intra-market exchange rather than long-distance trade.
