| Beschrijving keerzijde | Stylised Celtic rider on horseback advancing to left, the horse and rider reduced to abstracted, flowing forms typical of Eastern Celtic coinage of the Zickzackgruppe series. The Greek inscription ΠΛΛΛ appears above the horse in the upper field. A pellet-in-square symbol is placed before the horse, and a pellet-in-annulet symbol appears behind, serving as control marks. The design ultimately derives from the mounted rider reverse of Philip II of Macedon tetradrachms but is transformed through successive Celtic reinterpretation into a highly stylised decorative composition. |
