| Aversbeschreibung | Bearded bust of Vonones I facing left, wearing a diadem tied at the rear with a beaded fillet whose ends fall behind the neck. The hair is rendered in wavy locks arranged in a characteristically Parthian fashion, with a prominent curled forelock. The king is draped in a cloak visible at the shoulder, and the portrait exhibits the stylized yet vigorous engraving typical of late Parthian tetradrachm coinage struck at Seleucia on the Tigris. The field is plain, with a beaded border encircling the design. |

| Reversbeschreibung | The king, Vonones I, is depicted seated facing right on a throne, wearing a diadem and draped in royal garments, extending his right hand in a gesture of reception or investiture. Before him stands the goddess Tyche, or a personification of Victory, facing left and presenting a wreath or diadem to the enthroned monarch. The surrounding field is filled with the Greek dynastic legend arranged in multiple lines, and a date formula appears in the exergue in Macedonian month notation. The composition follows the established Seleucid and early Parthian iconographic tradition of royal investiture scenes. |

Vonones I came to the Parthian throne as a Roman-educated prince, installed by Augustus after years spent as a diplomatic hostage in Rome — an arrangement that made him deeply suspect to the Parthian nobility. His reign lasted only a few years before Artabanos II drove him out, first to Armenia and eventually into Roman custody, where he died under house arrest around 19 AD. The Sellwood attribution to Artabanos II for the month formula reflects ongoing scholarly debate over die links and regnal chronology that has not been fully resolved.
