| Beschrijving keerzijde | Nike, the goddess of victory, advances to the right in flowing drapery, extending a wreath to crown a trophy of arms set to the right of the field — a composition celebrating military triumph. Control marks, consisting of monograms and occasionally letters or symbols, appear in the left and right fields flanking Nike, varying by die variety. The reverse legend in Greek reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ, identifying the issuing authority as King Seleukos (I Nikator). The design is characteristic of early Seleucid royal coinage struck at the Susa mint. |
