| Reverse description | Schematized horse striding left in the distinctive 'Sattelkopf' (saddle-head) style, with the body reduced to two large globular masses representing the haunches and the head-neck junction, and the legs rendered as thin linear strokes terminating in pellets to indicate hooves. A large rectangular or block-like element occupies the upper left field, interpreted as a highly abstracted rider or saddle motif characteristic of this type. Small pellets are scattered in the upper right field above the horse's back. The composition is anepigraphic, filling the flan with bold, confident Celtic die-cutting showing advanced stylistic abstraction from the original Macedonian tetradrachm prototype. |
