An owl, the sacred bird of Athena, stands facing right at her feet to the lower right of the field. To the inner left, a monogram appears above a star. The magistrate's name ΦΟΙΝΙΚΟΣ appears in the exergue, with the principal legend ΑΘΗΝΑΣ ΙΛΙΑΔΟΣ distributed in the field, identifying the coin as an issue of the sanctuary of Athena Ilias. |
