| Reverse description | Two serpents rise from the lower field and coil symmetrically around a centrally placed bow case (gorytos), their heads confronting one another at the top of the device. To the left of the bow case, the ethnic abbreviation ΛAO identifies the issuing city of Laodikeia. To the right, a winged kerykeion (caduceus) is depicted as a secondary symbol. Between the heads of the two serpents, the magistrate's name NIKOΔIKOC is inscribed in two lines, identifying this issue within the cistophoric series of Laodikeia in Phrygia. |
