The king's abundant, flowing hair rises dramatically above the forehead and falls in thick, animated locks about the neck and shoulders, a distinctive artistic hallmark of his coinage. The facial profile is sharply struck, exhibiting a prominent aquiline nose, firm chin, and youthful idealized countenance characteristic of the Pontic royal portrait type. The diadem, a narrow fillet tied at the back, is visible along the hairline. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, as is typical of late Pontic tetradrachm production. |
