| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed and idealized portrait bust of Mithridates VI Eupator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal tradition with youthful, heroic features. The hair is elaborately coiffed in thick, flowing locks radiating outward from the crown in a distinctive lion's-mane style, a hallmark of Pontic royal portraiture associating the king with Heracles and Alexander the Great. A royal diadem is tied around the head, its ends visible behind the neck. The portrait fills nearly the entire flan, reflecting the bold, high-relief die-cutting characteristic of the Pergamene mint workshops. No legend appears on the obverse. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A stag grazing to the left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style, occupies the central field. To the upper left, a star-in-crescent symbol appears above a monogram; to the right, the regnal year ΓKΣ (year 223 of the Pontic era, equating to 74 BC) is inscribed above a second monogram. The month numeral Γ (month 3) appears in the exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and berries, referencing Mithridates VI's identification with Dionysos. The Greek legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ, reading 'of King Mithridates Eupator,' frames the central type. |
