A simple diadem is tied across the upper forehead, its ends trailing behind the head, asserting the king's sovereign status. The portrait fills the flan with bold, high-relief engraving characteristic of the finest Pontic workshop production. No legend appears on the obverse; the field is otherwise plain. |
