| Description de l’avers | Diademed and youthful portrait bust of Mithridates VI Eupator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic royal tradition with idealized, heroic features. The hair is rendered in thick, wild, flowing locks swept back from the forehead and falling in vigorous waves behind the neck, evoking the leonine coiffure associated with Alexander the Great. A simple diadem is tied across the upper forehead, its ends trailing behind the head, asserting the king's sovereign status. The portrait fills the flan with bold, high-relief engraving characteristic of the finest Pontic workshop production. No legend appears on the obverse; the field is otherwise plain. |

| Description du revers | Pegasus standing left in a grazing pose, his head lowered and wings folded along his body, rendered with careful attention to anatomical detail. In the left field, the distinctive Pontic royal badge of a star-in-crescent appears prominently. To the right, the Greek letter Beta (B), denoting regnal year 2 (87 BC), is placed above a control monogram. The entire central design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and clusters of fruit, a decorative border characteristic of the Pergamene mint series of Mithridates VI. The royal legend in four lines of Greek appears in the field, reading BAΣIΛEΩΣ MIΘPAΔATOY EYΠATOPOΣ. |
