| Reverse description | Zeus Nikephoros seated left on a high-backed throne, his torso nude and muscular, lower body draped, holding a long sceptre vertically in his left hand and extending his right hand forward. An eagle with wings partially spread stands on a star or wheel device to the left of the throne. Control marks appear beneath the throne. The royal Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΙΘΡΑΔΑΤΟΥ curves around the field to the right and left of the central figure, identifying the issuer as King Mithradates. The composition closely follows the Seleucid and Macedonian Hellenistic numismatic tradition. |
