| Obverse description | Radiate and cuirassed bust of Maximianus Herakles facing right, depicted with strongly modelled features consistent with late third-century Alexandrian die engraving style. The emperor wears a radiate crown with pronounced points and a cuirass visible at the truncation. The Greek legend ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟC CЄΒ (Maximianus Augustus) runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys imperial authority in the compact, somewhat stylized manner characteristic of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage of the Tetrarchic period. |
