| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing head of the laureate Apollo rendered in fine three-quarter relief, the face turned very slightly to the right in the characteristic style associated with the Halikarnassos mint. The deity's long, wavy hair falls loosely to either side of the face, framed by a laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the base of the neck. The modeling of the facial features — high cheekbones, softly parted lips, and large almond-shaped eyes — reflects the refined Hellenistic artistic tradition of Carian coinage under Mausolus. The broad, shallow flan displays the design in high relief with excellent detail typical of satrap-period silver issues. |
