Reverse description Athena Nikephoros seated left upon a throne, her left arm resting on a large round shield decorated with a gorgoneion, while a transverse spear leans in the background behind her. The goddess holds Nike in her extended right hand, who faces left and crowns the royal legend. The Greek inscription ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ runs along the right and left fields respectively, identifying the issue as struck in the name of King Lysimachus. A monogram appears to the inner left of the throne, the letters BY are placed beneath the throne seat denoting the Byzantion mint, and an ornate trident symbol occupies the exergue as a civic emblem of the issuing city.
