Reverse description Athena Nikephoros, helmeted and draped, seated left upon a throne decorated with ornamental carvings, her left arm resting on a large round shield set against the throne, a transverse spear visible in the background. In her extended right hand she holds a Nike presenting a wreath. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ runs along the upper and right fields. A monogram appears in the inner left field, the civic letters BY are inscribed on the throne, and an ornamented trident is displayed prominently in the exergue, serving as the civic symbol of Byzantion.
