| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III (the Great) facing right, rendered in the heroic Hellenistic portrait style with flowing, voluminous hair swept back from the forehead. A prominent horn of Ammon curls behind the right ear, denoting Alexander's claimed divine descent from Zeus-Ammon. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief with fine engraving detail in the hair, consistent with the posthumous coinage tradition perpetuated by Lysimachus. No legend appears on the obverse; the field is otherwise plain. |
