Obverse description Youthful head of Herakles facing right, depicted in three-quarter relief, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp covering the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features display the idealized Lysippan portrait style associated with Alexander III, with pronounced musculature and curling hair visible beneath the lion skin. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of posthumous Hellenistic issues struck at Miletos.
