| Descrizione del dritto | Youthful head of Herakles in right profile, draped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the gaping jaws framing the forehead and the paws knotted at the throat. The deeply modelled features display the characteristic Lysippan idealism associated with the Amphipolis mint, with full curling locks cascading behind the ear. A fine beaded border frames the flan. The die work is of high quality, displaying strong high relief typical of early posthumous issues struck under Cassander. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned in left profile upon a backless throne, his nude torso shown in three-quarter view. In his outstretched right hand he holds an eagle, wings closed, while his left hand grasps a long upright scepter. The reverse field to the left carries the monogram Λ above a torch, and below the throne the forepart of Pegasus to right serves as a secondary control symbol. The ethnic legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs to the right of the seated figure, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander the Great. |
