The deeply modelled features display the characteristic Lysippan idealism associated with the Amphipolis mint, with full curling locks cascading behind the ear. A fine beaded border frames the flan. The die work is of high quality, displaying strong high relief typical of early posthumous issues struck under Cassander. |

In his outstretched right hand he holds an eagle, wings closed, while his left hand grasps a long upright scepter. The reverse field to the left carries the monogram Λ above a torch, and below the throne the forepart of Pegasus to right serves as a secondary control symbol. The ethnic legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs to the right of the seated figure, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander the Great. |
